Natchitoches Christmas Festival - A festival for the entire family!

The holiday season in Historic Natchitoches is a sight to behold! With more than 300,000 Christmas lights stretched for miles in the Natchitoches National Historic Landmark District, 100 lighted and themed set pieces strategically placed on the picturesque Cane River Lake, and weekend firework displays that rivals those in much larger cities, it is truly unforgettable.

Those who can visit during the months of November and December are welcomed, with open arms, to Historic Natchitoches and all that the “Festival of Lights” has to offer. Weekends are filled with shopping, dining, sightseeing opportunities, and activities for children as well as entertainment on the downtown riverbank stage as well as performances at nearby Northwestern State University and area churches.

The celebration and Christmas light display continues all the way until January 6, 2019 so there is still time to experience the wonder of Natchitoches at Christmas.

Nestled in the heart of the 33-block Natchitoches Historic Landmark District lies the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel offering 87 luxurious rooms, open yet comfortable lobby with double sided fireplaces, New Orleans French Quarter style courtyard and our very own “Lounge 1714” offering a cozy atmosphere to unwind at the end of the day.

We’ve been busy at the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel during the past few months as thousands of guests have journeyed to take in the sights and sounds of the Natchitoches “Festival of Lights”. In addition to the great guests that we’ve welcomed, we can’t forget about the wonderful meetings that have taken place in the hotel’s very own meeting space.

Some of the groups include the Louisiana Ambulance Alliance, Louisiana City Court Clerk Association, Sam Houston Corvette Club, Bank of Montgomery, Louisiana Clerks of Court Association, Atmos Energy, Louisiana Propane Gas Association, Louisiana Police Jury Association, Wal Mart Corporation, Verizon, and Louisiana State Bar Association. What a great couple of months and a special thanks to all these organizations for bringing their meetings to Natchitoches during this very special time of the year!

Natchitoches may be known for its Christmas lights during the holiday season, but there is still so much to see and do at other times of the year. Natchitoches is also known for its festivals throughout the year, world famous meatpies, antebellum plantation homes and grounds, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum, Fort St. Jean Baptist site, and probably most famous in recent years for the site and primary filming location of the blockbuster hit, “Steel Magnolias”, based on a true story.

To say the least, Natchitoches offers a little something for everyone so for those who have never been, you are in for a treat!
