Natchitoches Classic “Return to the 50’s” Car Show

September 17 2019 | News

On the first weekend of October each year, the Natchitoches Historic District Business Association hosts the “Return to the 50’s” Car Show. This show began almost twelve years ago with only 88 cars on display the first year. In only a few years the number of cars on display had more than tripled with expectations of having around 400 cars on display on Friday and Saturday, October 4-5, 2019.

The “Return to the 50’s” Car Show could not be hosted in a more scenic location than in the Natchitoches National Landmark Historic District. The cars line picturesque Front Street, the bricked thoroughfare overlooking beautiful Cane River Lake. On the other side of Front Street, you will find shopping and dining options from one end to the other! Additional cars line the riverbank as this show continues to grow each year!

The Car Show features a Poker Run followed by a fish fry and live music on the Natchitoches Riverbank on Friday afternoon. The Show resumes on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an award ceremony at 4 p.m. on the Natchitoches Riverbank stage.

While in Natchitoches, you will not want to miss an opportunity to visit the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum located at the North end of Front Street. This state-of-the-art museum is a one of a kind design and houses priceless sports artifacts from decades of rich Louisiana sports history as well as a section devoted to the unique history of Northwest Louisiana.

Fall comes alive in Historic Natchitoches as the City covers the downtown area with festive Fall décor including hay bales, corn stalks, cotton bolls, mums, marigolds, and pumpkins. Cooler weather is also a welcome treat around this time of the year!
