NATCHITOCHES – The addition of the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel in historic downtown Natchitoches provides a premium lodging option a short distance from the Northwestern State campus, setting the stage for a newly-announced partnership between Northwestern State Athletics, the new hotel and the Natchitoches Events Center.

Dr. Haley Taitano, associate athletics director and executive director of the Demons Unlimited Foundation, announced the partnership. It provides opportunities for NSU Athletics to utilize Chateau Saint Denis Hotel and the Natchitoches Events Center in staging activities and hosting visitors.

The first instance will be the Friday, May 5 NSU Athletics Legends Gala featuring Ed Orgeron, the new LSU head football coach, who is a former Demon football player and assistant coach. Details are available at NSUDemons.com/Legends.

“We are excited to have entered into this new partnership with the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel and the Natchitoches Events Center,” said Taitano. “As part of our new partnership, both venues will prove to be the perfect host locations for two special events where we honor our athletic department’s most accomplished alumni: The Legends Gala and the N-Club Hall of Fame ceremony.”

The hotel’s location, squarely in the middle of the downtown National Historic District, provides an appealing lodging option for NSU guests and Demons fans, along with visiting teams and their fans.

“We host hundreds of recruits and visiting teams and thousands of alumni throughout the year, and we’re excited to now be able to offer them premium downtown lodging in historic Natchitoches,” said Taitano. “We are very grateful for Chateau Saint Denis and the Natchitoches Events Center for their support of NSU Athletics.”

Ashley Sarpy, director of sales for the hotel and the Events Center, said the affiliation with NSU Athletics is very beneficial for the new property as it serves the community and visitors to the historic city of Natchitoches.

“The Chateau Saint Denis Hotel and Natchitoches Events Center are honored to partner with such a community-minded organization,” she said. “Together we are committed to providing the full Natchitoches experience to all visitors and NSU alumni.”

The Chateau Saint Denis Hotel opened in December 2016 at 751 Second Street, across the street from the Natchitoches Events Center, next door to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum, and a block behind scenic Front Street and Cane River Lake. The Chateau Saint Denis is the largest boutique hotel in Natchitoches, offering 87 rooms, a French Quarter-style courtyard, ballrooms and conference rooms which can accommodate from 350-400 guests.
