The beginning of this year has been busy at Chateau Saint Denis.  Chateau was happy to host International Paper at the beginning of the month for a training event. The event took place over five days at the hotel. Participants enjoyed catering provided Chateau Saint Denis.
While Chateau saw the return of meetings, the City of Natchitoches and Northwestern State University saw the return of sporting events. With all sporting events being moved to the spring season this definitely brought some much anticipated activity to the downtown historic area. From Demon Football to Basketball, Volleyball to Soccer, Chateau was happy to welcome players and fans alike.
The end of March wrapped up in true spring fashion at the downtown hotel with a lovely wedding. The wedding was held at the hotel, outside in the beautiful New Orleans style brick courtyard. Attendants of the wedding sat among the rot iron furniture, surrounding the spectacular antique fountain. The bride and groom exchanged vows on the steps of the courtyard with the beautiful Downtown Historic District of Natchitoches as the backdrop. Following the wedding a reception was held inside the spacious interior meeting space of the downtown hotel.

Experience Historic Natchitoches in 2021 https://www.chateausaintdenis.com/news/natchitoches-more-than-christmas-lights-in-2021 Wed, 20 Jan 2021 04:59:59 +0000 https://www.chateausaintdenis.com/news/natchitoches-more-than-christmas-lights-in-2021

January is known for reflections, resolutions, and cold weather. Natchitoches was happy to receive the last of these, cold weather, at least for a brief time. Unusual for this southern town, Natchitoches welcomed a heafty snowfall that blanketed the city in a lovely white powder.  This somehow made the city even more picturesqe.  So even though Natchitoches had to say goodbye to the twinkling Christmas light displays for another year the city is ready to take on the new year.  The holiday atmosphere may be gone, but there is so much more to this quaint town that makes visiting an unforgettable experience.

Visitors are in for a visual and culinary treat while in the Natchitoches area.  The downtown historic landmark district offers many shopping, dining, and sightseeing opportunities along with other notable sightseeing locations that extend well beyond the city limits.

In the historic downtown district, a visit to the oldest operating hardware store in the state is a must.  Kaffie Frederick General Mercantile is located on the north end of the brick thoroughfare, Front Street, and offers almost any gift and gadget imaginable.

Just steps from the hardware store sits the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum.  This modern museum sits in stark contrast to the traditional architecture in the surrounding historic district.  The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Adjacent to the Museum and in the heart of the Natchitoches National Historic Landmark District sits the largest boutique hotel in the city. Chateau Saint Denis features its very own 'Lounge 1714', French Quarter style courtyard, as well as 87 luxury rooms including seven suites as well as balcony rooms.

The Christmas season may be over but there are many good reasons to visit Natchitoches. History, charm and southen hospitality abound in this unique city that is home to the movie "Steel Magnolias".

Don't miss an opportunity to visit the Oldest Permanent Settlement in the Louisiana Purchase!

Gratitude and Electricity in Historic Natchitoches https://www.chateausaintdenis.com/news/gratitude-and-electricity-in-historic-natchitoches Fri, 20 Nov 2020 04:59:59 +0000 https://www.chateausaintdenis.com/news/gratitude-and-electricity-in-historic-natchitoches

William Faulkner said "Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: It must be produced, discharged and used up in order to exist at all"

This year has brought changes to the holiday season in Historic Natchitoches. However, both gratitude and electricity are abundant in the quaint town.  More tham 300,000 Christmas lights twinkle overhead for miles in the Historic District and 100 lighted and themed set pieces are placed on the beautiful Cane River Lake. Fantastic firework displays will burst overhead every weekend beginning November 21 and ending December 26, 2020.

Those who are able to visit during the months of November and December and experience all that the 'Festival of Lights' has to offer are welcomed with gratitude as if welcoming long awaited family.  Unique shopping, dining and sightseeing are all a must, as well as enjoying the entertainment on the downtown riverbank stage.

Nestled in the heart of the 33-block Natchitoches Historic Landmark District lies the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel offering 87 luxurious rooms, open yet comfortable lobby with double sided fireplaces, New Orleans French Quarter style courtyard and our very own “Lounge 1714” offering a cozy atmosphere to unwind at the end of the day.

Enjoy the electricity of the holiday season in Historic Natchitoches and the gratitude and hospitality of Chateau Saint Denis.
